Lehtinen is different high seas island, it is a stone's throw from the
mainland. You
can drive near by from Loviisa along Saaristotie (archipelago road).
However the
island's outer coast is facing open sea.
We like the variable nature of island. You can
see a lot of different plants and
animals.
The island was long divided into two: one half
to cottagers and the other half to
Military use. Since the beginning of 2005 the army's operations had moved
away
and army´s parts passed to Metsähallitus (Finnish Forest Board).
Metsähallitus
has leased the area to tourism entrepreneurers, who renovates places to
his own
use.
In the island can be monitored a wide range of
bird life. The island's southern part
is beautiful seaside fields and -grass.
Lehtinen is also one of our "winter island TOP3"
islands. It is easy to go, neck of
land between the island and mainland
freezes even in the weaker ice winters.
